  • Molara in conversation with John Peel

Discussing the death of Lee Harvey Oswald, British Public Schools, Music, Religion, family and much more with the Godfather of the British music scene.

Molara's introduction:

"As a teenager I used to listen to John Peel's radio 1 show religiously on a transistor radio in my bedroom. He was one of the first radio dj's to play Zion Train music and we got to meet him at Glastonbury Festival in June 1995 I think.
He was djing on the NME stage (as it was then) in between bands. When part way through our set Sergeant Petter the ZT trombone player of that era kicked his beer over on stage, John Peel went down on his hands and knees and mopped up the beer.
So often when you meet one of your hero's they turn out to be really awful people. I thought at the time what a nice man, but after interviewing him I think he was one of the most sound, giving and truly lovely people I have ever met. Do read on... "
